More bikes from 150 Years of Gears

The "Boneshaker" shown here on the left is made of steel from front-back, top-bottom. I would think even a short ride on this would live up to its name.

3 speed Raleigh...huh I just came back from Wichita with one very similar to this in March. It is perfect for tooling through the neighborhood alongside our biker girl.

One of the first Women's bikes and even back then couldn't do without the frills. Actually according to the sign all the netting is called a skirt guard.

150 Years of Gears at the Longmont Museum and Cultural Center

Below are a few snaps of the exhibit that contained bikes from as early as an 1860s all steel bike called the "Boneshaker" to today's most high-tech racing bikes.

Our girl is rolling along now and is comfortable enough to let me hang back and watch rather than running/walking alongside. As mentioned in a previous post, her motivation to learn this new skill was the prize at the end. A second motivating factor is documented in the short video below.

Front step visitor this morning

I found this big guy on our front step this morning, guess he likes to soak up the warmth of the concrete. Have been in/out the door many times and no movement yet.

A little bit of google searching done and Ellary and I believe he is some variation of the Sphinx moth.
